About Ember & Thread
Ember & Thread is an independent English-language publication about simple outdoor living and everyday resourcefulness: camp cooking and seasonal recipes, beginner hiking and camping, secondhand and vintage clothes, small-budget rooms and beginner crafts.
What you will find here
- Step-by-step guides for beginners, with quantities, measurements and checklists you can use directly.
- Recipes written for home kitchens and camp stoves, with safe temperatures stated where they matter.
- Advice on buying secondhand well and keeping things in use for longer.
How the guides are checked
- Safety and legal points (cooking temperatures, fire and stove safety, carbon monoxide, labelling rules) are checked against official or expert sources such as U.S. federal agencies, state health departments, university extension services and horticultural societies, and linked in the text.
- Where practice varies, for example cooking times that depend on your stove, the guide says so and tells you what to check instead of giving a falsely precise number.
- Calculations, such as how much oil a pot needs, show their working so you can redo them with your own equipment.
- Guides are signed with the publication's name. There are no invented authors, testimonials or reviews.
What Ember & Thread does not do
It does not sell products, take payment for recommendations, or run affiliate links. Brands and shops are mentioned only when needed to explain something; trademarks belong to their owners. The guides are general information: they do not replace the rules posted at your campground, the instructions for your equipment, or medical advice.
Photos
All photos on the site are free-licensed images from other photographers, credited under each image and listed on the photo credits page.
About this domain
From around 2010 to 2012 this domain hosted a personal lifestyle blog about vintage fashion, home decor, crafts, recipes and camping. The blog later went offline, and in later years the domain was used for unrelated pages. Ember & Thread is a new, independent publication: it has no connection with the former blog or its author, and none of its texts or photos are reused here. Some old post addresses now lead to new guides on the same subjects.
